众所周知，议论文的三要素分别为：论点、论证、论据。这是我们在初中 学习议论文这种文体的时候即学到的知识。那么，应该如何将三要素应用到同属议论文范围的托福 写作中呢?
托福独立写作要求倾向论点鲜明、态度坚定的作文。因此开头段必须先点明论点。虽然通常认为表明观点前需要有一个引入部分，但直接用态度鲜明的概括性的句子做论点也并非绝不可取。例如OG范文：
Always telling the truth in any relationship is really the most important consideration for many reasons.
再如：
Compulsory art and music courses for elementary students should be an ill-considered idea for several reasons.
这种写法的优点是开门见山，直接而有力。应该注意：论点句应该是概括性的论述，而不是具体的理由。如果写成下面这样就不是合格的论点了：
I don”t think we should improve the quality of education simply by increasing teachers” salaries, for the money can be invested in more important programs such as libraries and facilities.
论证部分要注意环环相扣。英语中有train of thoughts的说法，生活大爆炸里的Sheldon一角喜欢火车，正是对这个习语的暗指(谢耳朵喜欢思考，train of thoughts即思考的过程，也就是我们说的“思
