  Our school library is a quiet building with tall windows and the smell of old paper. One rainy Thursday, I was looking for a book to read during lunch.   I opened it to the first page. Suddenly, the rain outside stopped. The library lights dimmed. I found myself standing on a cobblestone street in a strange city. A girl with a red balloon ran past me. “You can read yourself into this world,” she said. “But you must finish the chapter before the bell rings.” I was amazed. Every time I read a sentence, the world around me changed. I tasted the salty sea air when the hero sailed, and I felt the cold dungeon stones when he was captured. This book was not just words; it was a magic portal. 

  Over the next week, I read that book every day. I learned that the main character was a lonely boy who found a key that could open any door. But the real magic was not the key—it was his courage to open doors even when he was scared. When I finished the last page, the book turned into a normal, dusty old book. The librarian told me that the book had been there for thirty years, and many children had read it. “But only those who truly read with their hearts get to visit the story,” she winked. That book taught me that every story is a door, and reading is the key. Now, every time I open a new book, I get ready for an adventure.
