Our apartment is on the tenth floor. Below us, there are only cars, buses, and gray sidewalks. But on our balcony, there is a small green world. Last spring, my mother and I decided to build a balcony garden. We bought four long pots, bags of soil, and seeds of strawberries and mint.

The first week, nothing happened. I checked every morning, watering the pots with a small bottle. “Be patient,” Mom said. On the tenth day, I saw a tiny green shoot pushing through the dark soil. It was no bigger than an ant’s leg. I screamed with joy. Every day after school, I ran to the balcony. The mint grew fast, its leaves smelling cool and fresh. But the strawberries were slow. They took one month to flower, and another month to turn from green to red. One afternoon, I saw a small bird pecking at a baby strawberry. “Hey, that’s ours!” I shouted, waving my arms. The bird flew away, leaving a small mark on the fruit.

Finally, the first strawberry turned fully red. I picked it carefully. It was small and a little crooked, but it smelled sweet like summer. I cut it into two pieces—one for Mom, one for me. It was the best strawberry I had ever tasted. Not because it was big or perfect, but because I had watched it grow. I learned that good things take time. The mint taught me that some things grow fast and give quickly. The strawberry taught me that some things need waiting, and the waiting makes the fruit sweeter. Now, whenever I feel impatient, I go to the balcony and look at my little garden. It reminds me that growth cannot be rushed, whether it’s a plant or a person.

  易优作文名师点评: 对比城市与阳台、薄荷与草莓,突出“耐心”主题。观察细致(芽如蚂蚁腿、鸟啄草莓),语言清新自然。结尾感悟朴实而深刻,符合小升初作文的成长导向。
