The Lantern Festival is my favorite holiday. When I was eight, my father taught me to make a rabbit lantern from wire and red paper. It took us three evenings. The ears were crooked, and the eyes were uneven, but when I put a small LED candle inside, it glowed like a real firefly. 易优作文网,https://www.euzw.net (线上、线下)
On the night of the festival, I carried my lantern to the street. Other kids had store-bought lanterns that sang songs and flashed colors. Mine looked small and clumsy. I felt embarrassed and tried to hide it behind my back. An old man selling tangyuan saw me. “Let me see your lantern, little one,” he said. I showed him reluctantly. He held it up and smiled. “Do you know what a lantern is for?” he asked. “To look pretty?” I mumbled. He shook his head. “No. A lantern is to light your path. Your lantern may not be the prettiest, but its light is yours. And a small, honest light is better than a big, borrowed one.”
He gave me a bowl of tangyuan, and I walked on. The street was dark in some places, but my rabbit lantern cast a warm circle at my feet. I stepped confidently. That night, I understood what the old man meant. In life, we often compare our lanterns to others. Some people have brighter, fancier lights. But your own light, however small, is the only one that can show you your own path. Years later, when I face difficulties—a bad grade, a lost friend, a scary challenge—I remember the rabbit lantern. I don’t need to shine like the sun. I just need to shine enough to see the next step. That crooked-eared rabbit taught me to be proud of my own light. I still have the lantern in my closet. Every Lantern Festival, I take it out and light it up. The paper is faded, but the lesson shines as bright as ever.
