  When we moved to the new apartment building, I noticed something strange. There were no bird songs. In my old neighborhood, I woke up to the cheerful chirping of sparrows. Here, the only sounds were cars honking and construction workers shouting. The sky felt empty.

  I decided to invite the birds back. I took a small plastic plate, filled it with birdseed and rice, and placed it on my balcony railing. I also put a shallow bowl of water next to it. For three days, nothing came. The seeds remained untouched. I almost gave up. On the fourth morning, I saw a small brown sparrow land on the railing. It looked around nervously, then pecked at a seed. It flew away. But it came back the next day with a friend. Soon, a whole flock of sparrows visited my balcony every morning. They chirped and splashed in the water bowl. I named the first one “Braveheart”. 

  I started waking up earlier just to watch them. They had different personalities. Some were greedy, eating as fast as they could. Some were shy, waiting until the others left. One sparrow had a broken toe, but it still hopped happily. I learned that even in a concrete jungle, nature finds a way if you offer a hand. The sparrows’ songs filled my mornings again. My neighbors noticed and started putting out seeds on their balconies too. Soon, the whole building had a chorus of chirps. One elderly neighbor told me, “You brought music back to our lives.” I smiled. I didn’t do anything big—just a plate of seeds and a bowl of water. But those small acts created a bridge between us and the wild. Now, whenever I feel lonely in the city, I go to the balcony and listen to the sparrows. They remind me that no matter how tall the buildings grow, there is always room for a little song.
